Care and Support
Positive People has been in forefront in providing care and support for people living with HIV in Goa since 1992. The organization had introduced largest community home based care and support programme in the State benefitting more than 3000 PLHIV with focus on strengthening and supporting community based care givers.
The programme has been referred as the first programme successfully implemented with a mental health component in Asia by USAID.
Some of the current programme components include free health promotion services that promote the physical, social and emotional well-being of PLHIV through support group meetings and community based care; special interventions for adolescents living with and affected by HIV through continuous counseling, nutrition, education and medical support and residential camps with focus on personality development, sexual and reproductive health, disclosure and career and livelihood interventions which include training on entrepreneurship and providing seed money, subsidy, linkages to government schemes and individual mentorship for self-employment with focus on financial strengthening of families affected by HIV.
